dynamic parphrase translation of Apollinaire I'll Pleut

It rains voices

         of women

fallen from memory:

in you also of raindrops,

        rains

the crucial events

              of my life.

And these clouds

       thunder aloud

a world

with a host  of voices.

Hear,it rains

       of  regret and contempt

weeping

                    their well-worn tunes,

hear,those falling shackles

                  that imprison

 you head to toe.

JOBIM
inspired by the style of the lyrics of Antonio Carlos Jobim's English lyrics to 'The Waters of March https://www.musixmatch.com/lyrics/Antonio-Carlos-Jobim/%C3%81guas-de-Mar%C3%A7o-Waters-Of-March/translation/english

TIME RUNNING OUT
A mask a scarf
it's the light of the sun,
it's the glitter of the dew
it's a life begun

it's a blade of grass,
it is white, it's the dark,
it is black ,it is light,
it's a glow, it's a spark.

the clutter of life,
a word  in the ear,
the noise in the night,
the point  of the spear.

the centre of the world,
a walk in the park,
the look in the eye,
the song of the lark

it's the colour of the moon
it's the sound of your voice.
it's a chair, it's a stair,
it's a promise, it's a choice.

and the seconds tick by
of the time running out
it's the ifs and buts,
it's the uncertainty.

the arch, the shade,
the sheet, the bed,
the rhythm of the tide,
a garden shed.

a branch, a twig,
a hearty cheer,
a lock, a key,
the start of the year.

the star  of the east,
the middle of the day,
the breeze in the trees,
it's a trap, it's a stray.

a hole, a ring,
a laugh, a scream,
a shout, a song,
the end of the dream.

and the seconds tick by
of the time running out
it's the ifs and buts,
it's the uncertainty.
BECKETT after addenda 23 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=K2zxSZbm9xw
to go or stay
or runaway
avoid delay

of my being here
of my being there
of leaving now
wondering how

of roundabout
of hereabouts
of this residence
a missing presence

in this empty house
in this empty mind
in making decisions
to just unwind

of being unable
to decide about
coming home
come home

to a empty house
with a empty mind
and not being able
to just unwind

to go or stay
or run away
without delay

After the style of addenda 23 by Samuel Beckett
DUDLEY-SMITH after hymnal style

Born Anew

When Spring comes again
not the warmth..nor the rain
not the yellow ..nor the green
not the grass or verdant scene;
not the winds or blossom bright
not the showers or more daylight;
but hearing creation's new birth
shouted aloud in sky and earth.
GEORGE HERBERT after antiphon
Each day remember not,forgive my sin
                     My Lord,within

In worship as I praise
to You my hands I raise;
and know you as You are,
close up,not from afar

Each day remember not,forgive my sin
                     My Lord,within

Help me to stop and wait
for guidance,to relate
when on my knees ,I pray
hear better,what You say

Each day remember not,forgive my sin
                     My Lord,within

Inspired by George Herbert's poem of the Antiphon form and title.

BEYOND LOVE

The sun will rise,the sun will set,
no more love will life beget;
The day will break,the moon to rise,
no more love,as this life dies;
The Summer heat,or Winter cold,
no more love will this life hold;
The Autumn fall,and Springtime green,
no more again,will love be seen;
The wheat will shoot,the grass will grow,
no more again sweet love to know;
The grape will ripen on the vine
no more,no more will love be mine.

inspired after reading an essay by Nicholas Ferrar(1592-1637) the English ascetic of the Little
Gidding community(was also TS Eliot's inspiration foth the last of his Four Quartets
